What is a main idea?
Every text has a central idea or main point. This central point represents the essential concept that the author is trying to communicate. It is usually stated as a sentence.
Additionally, the main idea is usually reinforced by a series of details which support the principal idea of the text. They are also called “supporting ideas”.
